The Diggnation boys give it their usual semi-informed-rant analysis. Worth watching if you are interested in the OLPC.

  • Completely agree, they don't have a clue. When I first looked at sugar I thought "Just install GNOME", but after playing with it for a few days I decided it was great.

  • It's easy for geeks like this to complain that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles...We're talking about a lot of kids that have never been on an escalator.

  • Eh, I love Alex and Kevin, Diggnation is where I first found out about OLPC, but they really don't seem to know what they're talking about...

  • These two de-brained nerds have no fricking idea what they are talking about. No: please do not unleash the horror of KDE or Vista/XP interfaces on these kids. We have a chance to start again, and this interface is sleek and intuitive. All interfaces should be built from these principles. I love Macintosh and OS X - but don't tell me it is intuitive (although it was in 1984 - look at the films)

  • They don't know what they are talking about. OLPC is not about doing the same bloated interfaces as traditional computers, that require tons of RAM and processor just to have the start menu and all that layered interfaces that bug down, clog memory and basically bloat all over the place. Probably the reason for Full Screen interfaces is that it requires much less bloatware to be able to do all the same things as even do the things better than with the Windows interfaces.
