Alexz Johnson & Cory Lee - Love to Burn

The big debate over the better singer began when R&B Actress/Singer/Songwriter Cory Lee came into the third season of Instant Star playing the rising new "Instant Star" bad girl known as Karma. In the season premiere Karma (Lee) took on the classic "Waste My Time" made famous in the first season by Jude Harrison (Alexz Johnson) and made a pop cover of the song in which she won the Instant Star competition. Which has left some fans unhappy with the new mix and wish the original could be left simply alone as the way it was supose to be. The two came to ahead in episode "Like A Virgin" when the two made a duet famous with the song "I Will Be the Flame" better known as the "Smackdown" remix. The song being originally for the character Karma as one of her songs in her music career. But better like as a duet, and being sung as only a solo for the Instant Star 3 soundtrack. Rumor has it due to popular demand the duet version will appear on the Instant Star greatest hits album. When the 3rd Instant Star soundtrack was released a version of the song "Love to Burn" was sung by Cory Lee, as were other songs by other singer such as Tyler Kyte & Damhnait Doyle. These reasons said to be because of legal issues with Johnson's lable. Some feel as Lee's version lacked the emotion Johnson expressed in the two-part episode "18" when she sang the song, and others feel that Lee's voice was better suited for the song. And I say why can't we just be happy with both. Alexz & Cory are two talented singers/songwriters/actresses with very different styles, and we loved the "I Will Be the Flame" duet, so why not have another duet between the two. I like the mix of this song, but I do think that Alexz is a better singer for this type of song. Cory has a good voice but I think that it's better suited for hip hop kind of stuff. <3 it though

When I saw the episode with this song I fell in love with it but I was upset to see that they chose Cory to sing it on the album. She has a nice voice but I preferred the emotion in the original version with Alexz. This was a great mix of the two <3

I love both but for this song Cory's voice is more fluid... she is an R&B singer, Alex doesn't cover only one genre of music
