Boeing's revolutionary lightweight 787 Dreamliner took to the skies for the first time, marking a new era in air transport as it became the largest passenger jet to fly made mostly of composite materials.
@WorldsCast As it turns out, you are right. The wings are made to be able to flex that way so that they are not so stiff that they break instead. What I was saying is that heavier planes do that more. (I'm not an expert or any thing, I know a couple of guys 1 of whom is a pilot still, the only retired).
@210482fmj If everybody eat just vegetables, there would be no reason to raise livestock either. While we are at it,.. lets replace boating with swimming, along with bringing back the steam locomotive. Your analogy is completely absurd. As if aircaft cost, maintenance, certification, and available local airstrips are just around the corner to their job or vacation spot.. And of couse everyone will be a certified pilot too, right? Activate a few more brain cells and think. "DOH!" ;)

@ Abensberg
Much smaller. The twin-aisle 787 replaces both the 757 & 767. However, it is meant for LA to Houston, as well as LA to Sydney.
Flawless rotation and a great landing later that day to boot. Beautiful.
