My second visit to the sleep center for additional diagnostics and a trial run with a CPAP mask, to hopefully stop me from 'dying while I am dreaming.'

  • Thanks for the laugh. I just got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and I was sitting here tyring to psych myself up to try the mask. You made me laugh and I think I am ready for the dark side now. LOL

  • @annamariav4911 Hi Anna - it will take some time to get used to the mask/system, but be patient. It used to take a while just to put on the mask, looking at the mirror, but with time, it's very easy, and you'll get used to it!

  • al, is it all sorted now or have you still got the FKS

  • Well, the FKS is under control - I use a small mask at night (without all of the wires or sensors) to ensure that the breathing stays constant. Thanks for asking!

  • haha...your a classic man!

    Happy Dreams!!!

  • LOL! Thanks! - Alfred

  • @tattooyu I am in Canada I go to the doctor with chest pains and he determines I might have sleep apnea and my sleep consists of one night with a heart monitor and strap around my chest. A month later they send me home with a 2000 dollar machine knowing I cant afford to buy it. I use it for seven days and it ramps up to 12 in twenty minutes and I cant breath out using the mask. I now have a appointment may4 for no reason at all because the machine was set faulty and I slept at best 4hrs

  • @AKQJ40 What does a stroke feel like I am getting sharp pains in the chest and severe headaches?

  • After seven days and severely worse feelling of tired I returned the machine telling them how incompetant they are. I am not sure what to do accept wait to die???

  • @annamariav4911 I just got diagnosed with sleep apnea very severe 29 stops an hour. Where I live they sent me home with a 2000 dollar resmed and record my breathing patterns. I am not working because I am way too tired and the technician tells me there is nobody to fund me keeping the machine I only get a trial for seven days. During that trial the settings are locked in at 5 to 12 in 20 minutes I could not breath out and kept waking up feelling dizzy.

  • My question is, Why did she put a chin strap on you with a nasal mask prior to lights out instead of a full face mask... ??????

  • still to be tested to see what type of sleep apnea i have but was found to have some type of it and didnt even know it well apart from my wife complaining alot and feeling really crappy in the mornings and feeling really tired all day etc etc.. but its better to be getting checked than feeling like crap all the time i guess, but anyways

thanks for the laugh, i mean its made the whole daunting proccess a little more better haha

  • My mask is very small but I can't decide if I'm scuba diving or looking for the Mother ship! Any way its' terribly sexy..good times I was diagnosed last Sept '10 All kidding aside, it has made a huge difference in my life...all this occurred after my stoke(in my sleep) Good luck and good health to you all!

  • You are awesome Alfred! So frickin' hilarious. Obviously, the sadist who made those sensor patches has zero body hair. For monkeys like me... holy crap, ouch! I, too, have severe apnea. The mask saved my life. I used a nasal pillows mask (Swift FX) which is really small and soft. I would never sleep without it now... unless they find a CURE!

  • That was funny

  • You can lie in bed and pretend to be a fighter pilot, or wear it for halloween and scare hell out of the kids.
