@jjenson2006 brakes are dirt cheap, clutches are VERY expensive to replace. Me, I use brakes. Scotty

I bought a standard a year ago and now there's no way I could go back to auto. Autos are boring to drive. I would say manuals are safer since you can instantly pick the gear ratio to accelerate or decelerate and they force you to be mindful of your speed and look down the road farther to plan ahead. They often, but not always have better gas mileage than autos (depends on the gear ratios). They tend to be cheaper and more reliable. And sometimes manuals are inherently a theft deterrent for the car.

plus if you drive a standard you can look and sound cool revving your engine at stop lights without putting it in park or neutral like in a auto

So true. I love my car with the 5 speed manual. Automatics bore me..

autos are more to buy new but manuel seems to have better resale value....standard is awesome
What about double clutch transmissions, like Porsche's PDK, VW DSG or the Ford's powershift? de advantages of both!

@karelvvv dual clutch systems are automatic transmissions that work like standards. they do work fine, but of course, cost a small fortune to build so are more expensive to buy.
