@ducktwacy1 Actually, after Gus died, Pinto Colvig did Bluto's voice. Then came Jackson Beck.
But I think out of all of them, Gus Wickie was the best voice.

Bluto gets the job.
But Popeye gets the girl.

What do Popeye and Bluto see in Olive Oyl?
-
I think Jackson Beck (this being his first role as Bluto) filled the void that Gus Wickie left when he died. From 1942 to 1949, Popeye went through a second golden era. These cartoons are vasty underappreciated, and really need to come out on Dvd. I say this being a dyed in the wool Fleisher addict.

First Time Jim Cummings Voices Bluto Since Customers Wanted

That was a twist I didn't see coming at all! I almost thought Popeye lost!
Loved the bit where Bluto lifts up two horses--and then Popeye lifts up Bluto.

@lexbates Thank you very much for that piece of information.

@mannecyberguy Originally William Pennell, followed by Gus Wickie(Who was by far the best Bluto voice!),and after Wickie's death in 1938,several others including Jack(Popeye)Mercer and Pinto(Goofy)Colvig until Beck settled in as the voice until the early 1960's. Alan Melvin did the voice in the late 70's Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
1:04-1:06 Did he say "A Shemale blacksmith"? I didnt know popeye swung that way.
