Why pay a premium price for ready made Ranch Dressing? You can make your own with a few simple ingredients, rotating your nonfat dry powdered milk at the same time!

RANCH DRESSING MIX

1/2 cup nonfat dry powdered milk
2 tablespoons dry parsley flakes (4 T. if using fresh)
1 teaspoon dill weed
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon onion flakes
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon brown sugar

Mix all ingredients. Store in an airtight container. To make dressing, mix 1 heaping tablespoon into 1 cup buttermilk that's been mixed with 1 cup mayonnaise. Stir until well blended. Store covered in refrigerator until ready to use. Wait at least 30 minutes for flavors to combine.

Enjoy!

  • Would it work to use buttermilk powder instead of milk powder?

    Thanks

  • @thedogsmaid Absolutely! I just figured more folk had powdered milk on their shelves than powdered buttermilk. Thanks for commenting.

  • how long does the ranch dressing last in the fridge in a mason jar?

  • @MsAnna4040 Don't know for sure...it's never lasted for more than a week here!!! You can just mix up enough for one meal if you want to...that's the beauty of it.

  • I absolutely LOVE ranch dressing. This is so great, thank you so much for this video. On a side note, my family is relatively new to prepping. We have about 4 #10 cans of powdered milk put away. I so want to try these recipes of yours but I'm afraid of breaking into my supplies and then not having them. I know the 'store what you eat, eat what you store' motto, but how do I get past that fear of loosing my stores?

  • @mamaprepper5 Sorry it took me so long to see this comment. You have to change your mindset from looking forward to a future event, to saying to yourself, "This is my new lifestyle." I've had to get over the fear of breaking into my preps as well. Use it, and then replace it. You'll become more comfortable with this as you do it. Go get a #10 can right now, grab your can opener, and break into it! Just do it. It's food after all. Get into the habit of using it now!

  • @phillygirl1012 Don't know...it never last very long around here! If I had to guess, I'd say a week to 10 days.
