From the double A side single Fools Gold/ What the World is Waiting For. Fools Gold is very Dance orientated and has been questioned weather it's Indie or Dance.

  • For anyone with tickets for the reunion who are worried they are shit live, check out the new official video for Elephant Stone.

  • Got to be up there with the best tracks of all time. It's perfect.

I'm lucky enough to own it, funny how What The World Is Waiting For is on the cover. Lost the print somewhere down the line...

If anyone is going to the reunion gigs can they post here and tell us how good it was? Squire's art is amazing as ever these days so the programmes will be worth more than the ticket price alone.

Ian Brown was never in the Para's but funnily enough, Clint Boon was a grenade thrower in the S.A.S.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH No worries mate, you're welcome, and I totally agree, great triv if it'd been true. I doubt Ian Brown could have coped with the clobber anyway, and he loves his Manc hair, lol! Are you a Red by the way? YNWA ;-)

  • @DAW1968 Roger that. I was told he served in the Para's and he wrote 'Fools Gold,' as a result of having been on Senior Brecon. It was about the folly of seeking promotion that involved a significant increase in responsibility, for not a lot of extra cash. Perhaps I was given duff gen mate! SInce you served in the Maroon Machine, I will take your word for it! Pity though, I think it would have been great if it were true! Thanks for the heads up anyway :)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Sorry mate but you're way-off. No idea what the song is about, the lyrics certainly lens themselves to your theory however, Melody Maker stated that the band said it was about greed when they interviewed them years ago. One thing I am a thousand percent certain of though is Ian Brown was and never has been in the Paras. I'm ex 3 Para mate and I definitely know he hasn't been in...he's not even been in the forces let alone the Paras.

  • How many people realise that this song is about the Senior Brecon British Army Course? The lead singer of the Stone Roses was an ex-Para NCO- hence the reference to, "The back on my back is aching, the straps seem to cut me like a knife......." It's about Tabbing with a 100lb Bergen on Senior Brecon.

  • The Roses are back!!! Everything is not lost!!!!

  • Still love this song.

  • @TakeTheWholeCake what a fuckin twat

  • @greenan18 ha you are a gay! thats brilliant. racist little cunt
