Built in 1998 and were retired in November 2006. These buses were retired early because TTC can't convert them to diesel which means it will lose the wheelchair position. 9243 (accident) and 9244 (fire) were retired in January 2004.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X ISM is eventually replaced by the ISX11.9 as well. All transit buses uses the ISL9 engines in diesel forms.

  • @GordonFreemanD40

The ISL(9) is a different engine than the L10 in that the ISL(9) was just an outgrowth of the earlier C8.3/ISC series. Basically the ISC's 5.32" stroke was lengthened to 5.69" to create the ISL's 8.9 liter displacement. Believe it or not, though, the ISL(9) was designed to replace the L10 series after it was revealed there was no engine to bridge the gap between the ISC and the M11E/ISM series.

The L10 was itself replaced by the M11E (later ISM) in 1994.

  • wait if they have L10s why dont they sound like ISLs?
