Jimmy's version of "Handbags and Gladbags" is still THE best and most moving version of this beautiful song ever and is one of my all-time favourites. RIP, Jimmy .. the world misses you!

Who's that guitarist?

ohh... I love, I love... if I do...

The great ROY ALEXANDER on Hammond Organ! GREAT!
-
One of the greatest blues singers of all time, if not the greatest.

Jimmy was, in my estimation, the greatest male Blues singer of all time. I was fortunate to see him twice. The first time was January 2, 1963, at a jazz club, on North Broadway, in Frisco, with Ben Webster. The second time I saw him was in the mid-70s, at the Golden Bear, in Huntington Beach, with the one and only Jimmy Reed. I love both Jimmys.

One of the greatest blues albums of all time is "Blue Spoon." You can find it on one CD, with another album by Jimmy, that was recorded in England. The second album has some very good cuts, and some absolute trash but, if you like the blues, you will LOVE "Blue Spoon."

Get the double-album "The Spoon Concerts". That's all you'll need.
Ben Webster, Gerry Mulligan, Leroy Vinegar (bass). It's all there!

I don't know I'd be perfectly happy sitting on my couch giving Reese a backrub while I watched a "Best of Jimmy WIthersppon" video...

Check out his recordings with Robben Ford!
