The game was...okay. It combined space battle and away missions nicely, and the library on the ship was very extensive. You could also set up resources so your ship could repair vital systems while in battle, and maybe avoid battle entirely through diplomatic means.

The only real problem was the controls during space battles and the difficulty of some away missions. You are also forced on a linear path, and are not allowed to beam down anywhere you're not supposed to be.

I played the SNES version but had no idea that it was released for the Megadrive. Awesome!

I still have this game, but my kids tell me that the Genesis controller is broken. Guess I'll have to search on line for one. I did like this game and still remember the first time I solved the mystery.
