@alexgotti1 You can't, that's the problem, the faceplate has to be replaced, and its the whole unit.

For mine, NightWatch burnt out after I operated the radio in high power mode. I spoke to my tech about it and he said you can't get parts for it number 1, and number 2, the whole faceplate has to be replaced. So much for that, so I wound up selling it, though I really like the radio with all of nice features.

@cbtruthteller It was made in Philippines, if you've ever owned it, then you'd know that. It was bad engineering on Cobra's part, and the reason it is no longer made as too many of them were returned for factory service. It is a very good radio for the money, wished that Cobra had actually done some homework before actually producing it. For most people that own the Cobra 200 GTL, backlighting is least of their concerns, it's more of the final section burning during high power operation.

i dont know what you people are thinking i own this radio i have the 2nd edtion radio works flawlessly puts out 70 am 150 on ssb haveny had a problem yet with it if you hear 505 on the coast of cal you no what radio im on

I can hear 100 miles on the cobra 200 from glasgow to Larne in Southern Ireland on a good day and thats not skip conditions the RX is superb on these radios I own two of them!!!! V2 and V3

This radio is overr rated it really is an its a shame that it is. For the money you pay for this radio its not worth it.

I have a 200GTL-DX with board revision #3, have no trouble with it! Great radio, Cobra FINALLY got the bugs worked out and then cancelled production!
