@spr66 Good ear, you caught that reference right off.
-
My teacher used this for writing class. One of the only times I was paying attention.
-
Sounds like Lust for life, this charming man, and Are you gonna to be my girl
-
Pretty much my life in a nutshell.
-
The Decemberists have been my favorite band ever since they went on the Colbert Report way back in 2007. I have been listening to them constantly since then. I own every single song theyve made and this one is so addictive. I love them!!!!!!!! AHHHHHH!
-
colin is who influences me to continue writing music and songs this band is one of the few in the world today that you can apreciate the every aspect of the music and the beutiful writing of every song that they write you know?
-
this does sound somewhat like lust for life. However, knowing where the decemberists' influences lie, this song is more in common with The Smiths' This Charming Man. It even follows the same pattern with verses and the chorus. Its still a remarkable song, even if the beat and melody are similar to another song.

4 people got red cards...

First time i heard this, i swore the I was listening to The Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love". Blasted identical drums
-
@iritalikessaget the two songs do sound similar and they are the same drum beat but they are not the same. also the fact that you dont know this beat is a throw back to big band music shows how stupid you are. this beat is used in hundreds of songs made way before the loser iggy pop even thought about playing music. how could you like some retarded punk drug head who doesnt even know what he's singing himself over the very creative decemberists?
-
THANK YOU skylarbro country
-
@RocksNotDead101 That is not a good example. The Verve directly stole that Stones' hook and were sued (successfully) for it.
-
@iritalikessaget Ah, well I see what you mean. But the similarities lies almost purely in the drums. They may have been playing homage to Iggy Pop but in all fairness there are lots of songs which use similar riffs, motifs, rhythms etc. A good example is the The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony and the Rolling Stones' The Last Time.

@RocksNotDead101 Lust for Life
-
@iritalikessaget Which Iggy tune are you refering to?
-
I could probably like this song if 90% of it hadn't been written by Iggy Pop 30 years ago. WTF Decemberists, you have so many amazing totally original songs... and then this.
-
@PaivAgain your a loser
-
I love this tune. It's so upbeat, while the lyrics describe a devastating moment in time for the character. Great song, and great storytelling.
-
