@HealthyFoodStorage, you are absolutely correct about needing more food in many situations. This video & article is urging people to start somewhere, to take action of some kind. Many people can't afford the money or space of having a larger food supply. And, there are articles at the URL listed above for more ideas.

It is a good idea to have at least a 3 day supply of food, but considering the length of time people were without food and water during the Haiti earthquake for example, you would want to have more. In the U.S. we can look at Hurricane Katrina to see the same situation. Emergency help doesn't always get to us that quickly. I would say to have a month supply, or longer. Get food you like so it doesn't go to waste if you don't end up needing it for an emergency.

@gary77777778888888 I had to go look that up. Nope no goat's heads here. I knew what they are but had never heard of them or knew they had a use. I'm in Southern coastal California. No goat's heads here. We had a place in Bullhead City years ago and the town is named after those cursed things. Bullhead thorns. I used to hate those damn things. No kidding, they would puncture a bicycle tire. Been there, done that.
$61 a pound? WOW.

I forgot my usual harp when responding before:
Those plastic bins are good for canned food but unless you can verify through the manufacturer that they are food grade don't use them to store items in boxes or plastic bags. They are not good for potable water cartage either. The chemicals in the plastics are toxic. Use only food grade buckets for storing goods in soft packaging.

@gary77777778888888 Yeah, the ticks will be an issue to some degree. A tick needs to be on you and in your skin a while to transfer the lyme disease so a good self examination and wearing of light clothes will help mitigate that. That and some repellant.
