I don't like it. And I don't think any child would, either. The tools should be simple and multipurposed. The environment should be exciting and child-friendly. It should have bright, stimulating lights that create a wonderful environment that a child would be comfortable in and captivated by. It should create memories that last for a lifetime. This technological apocalypse does not even come close.

Oh really. i'd say something totally opposite. Look close to all ideas - it actually IS something exciting that CAN "create memories that last for a lifetime". Next generation is not generation of pen and paper, but plastic cards, Internet and modern technologies. We have to be prapared for that to prepare others.
I know it's sad, but libraries are not the same places they were even 5 years ago.
