Wow just like I was living at that time, so amazing to see live footage. Always would here stories from my Friends in Windom but to actually see it. Please show anymore films of Windom. Awesome.

Thank you so much for posting this. Sometimes it almost makes me cry to see my Grandpop's era in such a real and clear view. Time goes by and tends to blur our perception of the past, make it all black and white and unreal. This brings me right into the days when he was a young man in the service!

Thank you for posting this video. I'm a future music artist hopeful and I plan on writing a song about WWII. This is giving me some ideas. Hope you can hear the song someday. Take care.

I'm glad your brother made it home. I wonder how many of those other boys didn't?

Thanks for your comment. I know there were some who did not return. How many, I don't know. I had a cousin in Minneapolis who was killed in April, 1945, just shortly before VE Day. It was a very sad funeral service.

This is so impressive, I speak on behalf of my father,(this is his channel) who was 11 when the WW2 started.
He's still talking about the war very much basicly every day! So, we really want to thank all of the man who gave their lifes for our freedom. (we're from Holland)
It's such a sad video, to see young man go away and not knowing if they ever will return.
I hope your brother came home safely!
Thank you!!!!

Hi Theo and Toni,
Thank you for your note. We are visiting our daughter and her family and have not logged on to Youtube. Yes, some of those young men did not return alive. My brother did. You can see him in the video "Discharge from the Army" I am the little boy next to him. One of my cousins was killed in April, just before the war ended in May. I remember how sad it was at the funeral service. Anyway,I am happy that I can share my Dad's movies with so many people.

I'm sorry to be late in responding to your comment. Those were sad times (World War II) for many, joyous when they came back OK of course. I know I cried when my brother went away. I was just 7 years old then. I'm just so impressed with my Dad how with no training or much education he could do all the filming he did. I guess I just wanted to share with the world some of the things and experiences he recorded so long ago.
