Palestine to press Arab League to help Sri Lanka

The Palestinian National Authority decides that the Arab League should help Sri Lanka in the hour of need. It has called for supporting rehabilitation and development related to the relocation of displaced persons in the North and East.

Sri Lankas Representative for Palestine Dr. T. Jayasinghe had a series of discussions with Palestines Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed Soboh and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Riad Malki. Their talks centred on helping Sri Lanka. Even Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has indicated that he will contact leaders of Arab countries on this matter. Dr. Riad Malki assured that he will be taking up this matter at the next Arab League meeting in Cairo. Palestinian leaders consider it is their duty to help Sri Lanka. Palestinians feel that Sri Lanka deserves more support in view of her long standing pro- Arab policies.
