Here's a quick and easy method you can use to clean a scanned drawing. In this video you'll see how to isolate your line on a separated layer, without loosing quality. Then, you'll be able to color the line easily, and to paint under it.

This method works for every photoshop versions ;)
For a better result, scan your line with a 300 dpi resolution.

  • you dont need to go to the channels, just apply the Multiply filter

  • @nodws : I use Photoshop for 10 years now, I now how to use the mutiply function, don't worry :D But this is not what I try to show here :) I don't think that you'll be able to color your lineart easily if you just use the multiply function ;) Here I isolate the line from the white BG :) It's separated on a single layer with this method ^^

  • I so wanted to learn this, but with no voice and working to fast, this is useless for me. Maybe you one day will put out a video where you are working a little bit slower, and use your voice to explain. ?

  • @LenaJohansenMUA :

I"m sorry Lena, but as I'm french, I wouldn't be able to speak in english at the same time. I can understand this is to quick, but I'm already working slower than usual (I try not to use shorcut with keyboard) , and the video permits to go back. You can also see it again and again. :) As I really never have the time to do this kind of things, I thinks it's already a good point if I made this short example T_T I wouldn't be able today to find time to do this again unfortunatly.

  • okay but what if you happen to accidentally smudge. I mean you have very clean pencil lines in the scan, My pencils usually smudge on the paper

  • @KittyKyomi : It will work the same :)
