seeing old episodes of the simpsons on dvd is visually interesting because you can see all the imperfections on the animations cels, you can almost see the paint strokes, i love that. so much animation now is done on computer and they look too perfect

But the thing is when those cartoons were made they did look "perfect". Televisions weren't high resolution enough to show the imperfections. The artists weren't trying to make it "grainy" or "raw". They tried in their limited capacity to make perfection. They failed, and that is why they moved on.
