I love the film....and the song
-
@holmsatlarge used to live there, know all the places, plenty of memories

@totovillefranche See "Subway"(1985) directed by Luc Besson .It stars Cristopher Lambert, but don`t let that stop you.

@holmsatlarge Seen Diva meanwhile ? Brilliant, love the story - and even better the soundtrack; La Promenade sentimentale used to be the last track I played early in the morning when the lights came on again - long before people played whatever techno-tracks; this song here is also on the Badalamenti cd by the Brussels Philharmonic/Orchestra of Flanders, from Ghent International Film Festival .. excellent !

I see you have James taylor`s version of "Carolina on my mind"If you haven`t heard it,check out Melanie safka`s version,I think she has the definitive version.Thank you for introducing Tindersicks,I shall try some more of them.

Yes it`s about an obsessed fan, mobsters and an opera singer. The soundtrack isn`t as trippy but holds its own.I am looking up "Trouble Every Day"
this long version is not from "Girl On A Bridge"
This version, with the creepy musicbox intro is from the earlier 1995 film "La Cite des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children)" Angelo composed the sublime music and Marianne wrote the words specially for this surreal movie which is about stealing children's dreams. Best French movie ever!

I can't really say if there's another version, but I tagged it as such, since there's no available soundtrack for "Girl On A Bridge". I could only find this song on "The City of Lost Children" soundtrack. I know in that film, though, the song starts with Marianne singing during the seductive knife throwing scene. Both are amazing French films. Faithfull and Badalamenti have also collaborated on her album "A Secret Life".

I agree that "City of lost children" was excellent.May I suggest Beineix`s"Diva"as worth a look?

I haven't seen "Diva" yet, although I've heard of the movie for some time. I believe the film is about a man obsessed with opera, or an opera singer--something like that. Claire Denis is another french director who's film's have great soundtracks: "Nennete et Boni" and "Trouble Every Day" are done by the band Tindersicks. I have a video for the title track of "Trouble Every Day". Check it out.
