Pocket The Cha Cha by Timbila

New York based African rock band Timbila releases their 2nd music video for the long form version of the lushly melodic and strikingly rhythmic mbira song Pocket the Cha Cha. With lyrics by poet Bob Holman, this song and video merge the sounds of NYC with the harmonies and mbira textures of the Shona of Zimbabwe. Nora Balaban and her band shine and Banning Eyre of AfroPop hypnotizes and electrifies on guitar. Filmed and Produced by K2 on Canon 7D HDSLRs, mostly in the East Village and Harlem, this band bristles with fun and eccentricity as they interact on the streets of NYC with friends they cross paths with and wonderful characters they meet drawn to the music and the filming.
