Bananas was a German music & comedy TV show, running from 1981 to 1984, featuring a comedy troupe of 4 guys and 1 woman (sound familiar?!).
The format of each show was roughly sketch/song/sketch/song/etc... with seemingly most of the sketches being like-for-like translations of sketches from Not The Nine O'Clock News.
This is from Episode 3, first broadcast 23 June 1981.
I've also found the German versions of Rowan Atkinson walking into a lamp post, The auctioning of a hospital bed, Soup being serving on a wobbly train, and a couple I'm not sure of but look suspicious!
Looking back at the original v=beCYGm1vMJ0 a lot of the humour comes from them *both acting as talkshow guests and like a couple, and at the beginning we just see Gerald examining his hands like a person without it being evident that he can talk. That "Aha" moment is somewhat spoilt here as Erhard(t) is out of shot!

Erhardt der Gorilla. lol. I agree Mel Smith really made this. The carpet cleaner gag is missing and "do you have a mate?" "Yes, I've got lots of mates". And the "he DOES eat daffodils, you know!" is better coming from a daffodil IMHO.
So like the "Goodness Gracious Me!" gags on "Was Guckst Du?" it's been a bit watered down.
Interesting, though!
Thanks for posting!

The actors are nowhere near as good as Smith and Atkinson. Game try all the same.
