  • i haven't ever been at a event in the arena, but after seeing that, yah, you guys need a new events center pretty bad. if you want to see a awesome score board, check out the daktronics board in the new ice arena in rapid city. heck, even the Barnett arena in rapid is nicer then that, and it opened in 1977. yeah, its pretty sad that rapid has nicer events facilities then Sioux falls, and we don't even have HALF the population.

  • @Murcielago05 Actually yeah last time I checked I-90 and I-29 is farmland buddy, and I do live here, I own and operate a business on the south south of the city, and no, I know lots of businesses that would like it Downtown that aren't located downtown!

There is more parking Downtown than there is at the Arena, plus they would add 2,000 more parking spots Downtown!

Get your facts straight, get out of town and visit other cities with their Arena's Downtown.

  • sorry, but no dice.

    Putting it downtown is dumb.

The locations I stated are not "out in the middle of farms", do you even live here?!

There is no room downtown for this...and the realistate will impact its size & future expandability. Lets not forget parking would be a nightmare, and you cant have parking ramps, nobody is going to have fun tailgating in a ramp.

The only people who want it downtown are the ones with businesses downtown...THATS IT.

  • @Murcielago05 Yeah Downtown is the best option for the Events Center. We do not need additional convention space at this horrible location and the Conservative city leaders don't want to give in to the profitable site, they want to benefit Teri Ellis Schmidt and the Convention Center.

  • Actually the Downtown spot is like apparently the best spot to put it economically and is the easiest to get to for people in the city and for people to shop spend money and experience the city! Don't know why your hatin' on that spot because way out in the middle of farms where you want it would be a terrible costly mistake!!

  • The location is decent...But I was hoping for it to be built on the north or south side of town (Off I-90 or I-29). So parking wouldn't be an issue...and it could be right off of the interstate, so people from out of town wouldn't have any trouble finding it.

That said, I'm glad nobody is looking at building it downtown anymore...thank god!
