@zx636racer Some newer microwaves have a ferrite core transformer that requires a high frequency driver, but all older ones use this kind of transformer. With it's original secondary windings, it will output around 2000v ac. I took all of those windings off using a hammer and a chisel, and wound 2.5 turns of this very thick wire, leaving the primary intact. This way the voltage is about 2-3v open circuit and will short at over 1000 amps.
