Simpson Desert 2009

Red Center of Australia, Hay River Track and French Line.
We went north to Baton Hill, then around to Mt Dare and back through French Line to Birdsville. Then Bck to Sunshine Coast (5500km). To baton Hill to Birdsville via Alice Springs and the French Line, it took us only 2 days!

Its a very strong and powerful truck, i would say that I miss more room in the back. The Troopy would be my choice if I had to buy a new one, for the extra room I need. I fitted extra tank to get 170l (ARB). Still, the best car I ever had. Cheers

Such a pity you raced across so quickly without taking the time to experience the desert. Ive crossed it 4 times now & each time taken between 4 & 5 nights to do the job, simply because I love the place. Set up camp early each day & sit back, watch the light show of stars, theres virtually no other place quite like it.
