This project was to build a high street for my model railway. All the buildings were Metcalfe and took quite a few hours to build. The addition of lighting makes all the difference

  • Hi mate, how did you find fitting the lights in these metcalf kits? Did you find light was escaping through the gaps in the cardboard?

  • @jasonandjoesrailway Hi there. No, I haven't had a problem with light seeping through any gaps. TBH the Metcalf kits are pretty good and generally a good fit.

  • Nice models I too have the same kits with lights inside but I also added background scenes to the rooms & shops. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for your posting. Those card kits are great and nice to build too. I'll take a look at your site..

  • Darned nice for cardstock. Only thing missing is an old lady hanging out the window yelling at the kids.

Yeah, Hmmm you have me thinking.. maybe that would be a good idea LOL

  • These card kits by Metcalfe are simply great to work with. You get so many options and it's surprising what extra buildings you can make with the left over bits. Some of my Metcalfe buildings have been up in the loft for 5 years and apart from dust, look as good as the day I made them. I have insulated the roof and leave the loft door open all the time so just so it doesn't get too cold...

  • What do you think of the paper kits? How do you think they would stand up long term in the climate change of a loft layout?

  • Makes me feel like I'm in England, Brilliant work
