Nobuyuki Tsujii (辻井伸行) performs this original composition on a Japan TV show 『風がはこんできたもの』"What the Wind Carries" aired on February 2, 2011. On the show, Nobu visits a famous Japanese scenario writer Mr. Kuramoto 倉本聰 (76 years old) in Hokkaido, walking in snow with him, playing several impromptu pieces on the piano, and then this composition.
This is an excerpt from a longer video that has been posted by the sponsor of the original TV show. I uploaded this video because the longer version does not load well in the U.S., and this composition is too good to be buried in that long video.

  • Bellísimo, maravilloso, perfecto!

  • @mariadelamor21 Thank you for your comment. You should check out the version of this piece that he recorded in his "Nobuyuki Tsujii Works 2000-2011" album - it's different from this rendition and somehow even more endearing.

May 2012 be an even better year for Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii. I am glad you heard him in 倉本 Kurmamoto - I myself will next see him in performance in May in London - Prokofiev 3 and Chopin 1 -- with Vladamir Ashenazy!!

  • Really beautiful and touching!!! Such a great talent and inspriration. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes...

  • @MumPutinVietnam Really beautiful and touching!!! Such a great talent and inspriration.

Thank you for the appreciation. It is now August 2011, and Nobuyuki has just had a new CD come out of his own compositions ("Nobuyuki Tsujii Works, 2011-2011" Avex Classics). The rendition of this piece on that CD is somewhat different than this version. I have come to love them both. This piece, to me, is Nobu's best composition so far.

  • This is a beautiful composition. Nobuyuki Tsujii has continued to develop his composing skill and is now quite an impressive composer. The brilliance of this young man truly dazzles.

And those scenes of him standing in the open snow field never fail to bring tears to my eyes.

  • @ArashiFan4Ever :-) I think Mr. Tsujii would smile if he hears your comment "I seem to hear Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt...all playing with him". Thank you for that!

  • March 11/12. 2011. My heart goes out to everyone in Japan after the massive earthquake and tsunami that happened on March 11. The Van Cliburn Foundation just posted a note that says Nobuyuki Tsujii is safe, for which I am thankful. M. L. Liu, California, U.S.A., who uploaded this video.

  • My best wishes to Nobuyuki Tsujii and everyone in Japan to be safe from the threat of the earthquake that struck Japan and rocked Tokyo today (March 11).
