Did this have a kick starter on it for use on a Cushman scooter?

These are so cool I just found one at the museum I go to, maybe I can get them to sell it to me.

In an engine this old I would try as much as possible to use a non-detergent oil. A detergent oil may reveal slow oil leaks if there are any.

For the oil bath air cleaner what weight of oil do you use?
Also for the engine. Does it require straight weight 30 Detergent or NON- Detergent oil?
-
only 1 hp haha thats nothing compared to todays standards

Those were made for the Simplicity Model "A" one wheel Cluti-Cutter tractor and only from 1940-1945. So it is indeed a scarce engine. I can send you the literature on the Simplicity model "A" if you're interested in seeing the machine this engine operated.
