The ballet, "The Little Mermaid" with Roland Petit & Zizi Jeanmaire, choreographed by Roland Petit. The ballet is based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen.
'Hans Christian Anderson' used to be my all-time very favourite film and I adored 'The Little Mermaid' in it. This was my intro. to ballet - and Zizi Jeanmaire - and this used to be the best part of the film.
Viewing this ballet nearly 60 years after it was made, it remains a moving, exquisite work by Roland Petit. I had the pleasure of being in the corps de ballet on the film and I still cry when I see the pas de deux. It's a true, timeless work of art. Thank you posting this treasure.
Where can I find a full recording of this?

I greatly admire Roland Pertit's choreography. even in the 21st century his Ballets
remain dateless. Recently revived at the Paris Opera his Clavigo and Proust still feature in the repertoire.

This video is actually from the Danny Kaye film "Hans Christian Andersen" and is only a portion of the entire ballet.
