Best student section in the nation

Red Scare has the best seats in the house for games at UD Arena -- right behind the home basket first half, the visitor's basket the second half. And right by the visitor's bench all game long.

A student named Liz, now an alumna, shot this for UDQuickly her senior year. At the time, she wrote:

"I have been waiting four years for this.

My senior year in high school the basketball team at the college that I had picked — UD — entered the NCAA tournament. After a disappointing loss, I was confident that next year would be better.

I cheered at every game as a member of Red Scare my first year at UD. But we were not good enough. The next two years I came to the games with the same hope, only to be disappointed at the end of the season.

But this year is different. I'm a senior. Our once young team has matured; they are up to the challenge. More Red Scare members are consistently attending the games.

I never want this season to end. Because next year, I will be cheering from a different section."

Even though Liz graduated in 2008, we still catch her sneaking into the student section for games.

Btw, this wasn't a particularly big game — we always have this many fans at UD Arena. We've had 11,000+ come to our last 150 regular season home games, and the 2007-08 season, when this was shot, we averaged 12,800+ for home games.

The problem with the student section is that it's run by a bunch of nerds who don't drink or know anything about basketball and all of the alcoholic assholes who are the loudest fans have the seats all the way in the back.

Dayton may be the only city in Ohio where football isn't #1. Good or bad, the fans and students always show up for UD basketball.

When I went to a highschool basketball game the student section was much louder than this and it was so loud that I couldn't hear the person right next to me and everyone was jumping the whole game
