I'm 42 and enjoyed this greatly as a kid.But let's not kid ourselves that this is art like Oliver Postgate's amazing Bagpuss or Clangers. (If you want to see timeless,artful kids tv,check it out on YT.) Even then I knew it was junk. But It's enjoyable junk,like eating 3 hot fudge sundaes all at once. My fave bits were the theme song,'Danger Island' and 'It's The wool-uf'.

I love the bananasplits, used to watch them on a saturday morning without fail. Hence my Youtube name!

I;m 49 + I can't believe how many people are "scared" of The Splits ! My son is in the British Army. I'll suggest to him that they all dress up as the Banana Splits in future. A good % of the Taliban will be pooing themselves as they see the British + USA forces running towards them dressed as Drooper, Bingo etc singing "Tra-La-La, La-La-La-La". This war could be over by Christmas. Someone get me Obama on the phone now.....! ! !
