This is my smallest beecolony bee's inside an insulated beehive.

Today I found something out I was actually not sure if it was actually proven. You might know that giving food to bee's actually makes them search for more food. Stimulating them to get pollen etc. Yesterday I took a sneak peak if the bee's survived winter. They did :) So since this was a three window hive, I wanted to give them some extra food. A piece of 'sugarwater honey in a window' and a bit of 1:1 water/sugar mixure. In the morning I checked on them and the few bees that were in there were actually drowning. So I rescued them and removed a piece of wax that gives access to the hyve.

Then it started... in the movie you can see bee's flying out at 9.5 degree Celsius. Yes, that is not natural. In the next movie you will see the bees that were actually inside the hyve feeding zone... very cool to see. Hopefully I didn't disturb nature too much.
