Yes, for the winter you would not have access to open/close the window. It's cold out there.

I Did my windows with window film recently, but I placed the double side tape flush on the sheetrock walls outside the window frame and across the bottom of the windowleadge inside. Is this creating to much air space by having film so far away from the glass surface?

Actually, that's much better than having the plastic in contact with the window frame. You did it exactly right.

I'm worried about mold growth on the windows after the plastic has covered them up.

The window frames in my home are metal, and at night those frames get just as cold as the window panes. Lots of condensation. I have had to clean off some mold spots on occasion.

The condensation should go away when the air in your place stops being able to reach the window. Nice and dry back there if you seal it correctly!

They make them about 10 feet wide- look for the 3M/Scotch brand. If your window is bigger than that, you should look into a more hardcore option. Those are some big windows.

Extra Tip when installing this stuff, use gloves to handle the clear sheet otherwise you may end up like i did with fingerprint marks you cannot get at to clean. Trust me i learned from my own mistake!

Why no follow up with the FLIR camera at the end?

What about their removal during the spring? Will the double-sided tape easily come off without taking any paint or stain from the window's frame??

These kits work great however I caution against using the doublesided tape on painted surfaces as it will pull away the paint.
