Alster Ice Hamburg | Alster Eis - 28.01.2010 (2 of 3)

The Hamburg Alster Lake video 2, 28.01.2010 | This time the sun was shining, the ice was melting and puddles were visible on the ice! This is the day after the go-ahead for the Alstereisvergnügen should have been given for the weekend 30th/31st January. The authorities tested 50 points around the Alster on the 27th and the weather forecast for the 28th was, 3°C and a thaw. As such it was not worth the risk for a major weekend event. Allowing many stands all around the Alster would have attracted too many people, so licences for a major event were not handed out. The event may take place on 5th/6th/7th Feb, but will the temps stay well below zero from Thursday to Sunday? I suspect the thickness of the ice will be tested again on Wednesday 3rd Feb 2010. I will receive an Email from the town hall, when, or if the go-ahead can be given.

02.02.2010 | The go-ahead for the Alstereisvergnügen will not be given for this weekend. The ice is now melting and many parts are now dangerous
