For the past year, the Northeast Central Durham Livability Initiative has made significant progress on improving the quality of life for the thousands of residents that call this area of Durham home. This month, "CityLife" Host Beverly B. Thompson is joined by Melva Henry, community engagement manager with the City's Neighborhood Improvement Services Department, as well as Wanona Satcher, one of the resident leaders involved in the Northeast Central Durham Livability Initiative, to talk about the efforts of this resident-led initiative and how it's making a difference in the quality of life for residents, not only in Northeast Central Durham, but for the entire city
For the second half of "CityLife," Jim Soukup, director of the Durham Emergency Communications Center, describes the new "text-to-911" pilot program for Verizon Wireless customers and how the recent installation of next-generation 911 technology is allowing Durham to be the second community in the nation to test this service.
