i dun think Jerry was Ella's ex. If im not wrong it was just one of the rumours and also i think Jerry had a girlfriend at that point of time when they were filming The Rose so he couldn't really have dated Ella.

The awards are usually presented the following year. So since the rose was aired in 2003, then i would think this is 2004. It couldn't have been 2005, that would have been too long after
