  • 4th thing you need to be Goth .. You must have invaded Rome, only then can you call yourself Goth.

  • Homosexuality is at least rooted in genetics. Gothic behaviour *is* a choice. After all, before the 1980s where were all the Goths?

Goths, who accept the lifestyle, CHOOSE to conform. It is as simple as that. We made the choice.

When you have a few more decades on you, you'll see things as the senile bats now do.

Goths are not born, we make ourselves.

  • @BunrakukenIII There are people who believe that homosexuality is a choice and has nothing to do with genetics. Just thought I'd point that out. I am not of that opinion, but I know that there are many people out there who think that way. Although I do believe we all choose what lifestyle we like and go with that.

  • Thankyou you have helped me so mutch considering ima also gothic I have a fox anime plushie that I luv and its not black or gothic at all thanks for makeing that point your epic

  • @MadGoat THANKYOU!!! someone finally realises what goth is, did about Goth in history, the amount of questions people asked me about how people wearig black is goth urggg XD

  • Can you just list some bands/ singers that you listen to? :)

  • In the early 1980s, the gothic movement thrived with bands like the Sisters of Mercy at the forefront. However, by the mid to late 1980s, the movement was waning. In the late eighties and early nineties, a new, second generation of gothic bands emerged to breathe new life into the scene. They distinguished themselves by being the first to regularly call themselves Gothic. This time period is when the US Goth movement grew significantly, and Gothic became recognized as a distinct subculture

  • The first generation of the gothic movement emerged mostly in the UK in the late seventies and early eighties as a splinter from the punk movement. Bands like The Damned, Bauhaus, and Siouxsie and the Banshees characterize the first generation. These bands were called Gothic later on, but most did not consider themselves Gothic at the time.

  • this chick doesnt make any sense

  • @BunrakukenIII What the hell is gothic "behavior"? The way you dress and music you listen to doesn't affect your "behavior".. Whatever that is. Goths were here before the 80s... people have had appreciation for the darker things in life before 1980... maybe not entirely the same music. Ever heard of victorian goths? Also you can be born into a subculture. Such as if you have gothic parents... more than likely you will stay goth.

  • @MadGoat Same name, different definition. Dipshit.

  • I feel like the terms "baby bat" or "mall goth" are very elitist, and just sound condescending and patronizing. In my opinion, something like "Goth" is rather subjective. To some it can mean lifestyle, but to others it could just be a label. It can be apart of who you are but it doesn't have to necessarily pertain to that. I believe you can choose to adapt to a gothic lifestyle, or what you consider it to be. Personally, I find it to be mostly fashion and music tastes. But that's just me.
