The Plaschanitza - or Winding Sheet - is a depiction of Christ laying in the Tomb. In the Orthodox Church, a tomb is set up in the center of the church, usually decorated with flowers. During the Vespers service on Holy Friday, the priest places the Plaschanitza in the tomb during the singing of "The Noble Joseph". He then censes it on all four sides.
