Ustad Amanat ALi
Live on Pakistan Television (PTV )
Ghazal of Raza
mathay pe shikan aye dil e nakaam na aaye
ab aor bhi tujh par ilzaam na aaye

tum bhi to suno, mujh se tumhi ne to kaha tha
har dam ho mera zikar magar naam na aaye

le subh hoi jaati hai ab aye shab-e-wada
kya kam yeh khalish thee wo sar-e-sham na aaye

taskeen woh youn de ke wo RAZA chhoR gaye haiN
jaisay yehi chaha tha ke aaraam na aaye

The late fifty's and early sixties saw a rise of seraphic singing maestro Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was born in 1922. The Prestigious Patiala Gharana the family that sworn to carry on the traditional and classical aura of Hindustani music saw another immaculate, and faultless singer adding more shine, prestige and prosperity to their family. Patiala Gharana was not just an ordinary family, 'Gharana' a word which describes the family's lone ancestral possession was the seraphic and the melodious voices. The family was founded during rule of Maharaja Mohinder Singh who was the ruler of Patiala by Ustad Jasae Khan; Patiala Gharana achieved its celestial point in the mid of twentieth century when stalwarts like Bade Ghulam Ali Khan rose to the big scene. Ustad Akhtar Hussain Khan along with Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan achieved world wide fame and brought glory to the Patiala Gharana. Ustad Amanat was the son of Akhtar Husain Khan and grandson of Ali Baksh Khan, the founder of 'Patiala Gharana.' Along with Ustad Fateh Ali Khan the young Amanat Ali started singing for gatherings ('mehfils') and at an early age he became a recognised singer in the court of the Patiala king. Soon after the independence he came to Pakistan where he continued his singing, which made him popular not only in Pakistan but the entire sub-continent.

His concerts on Radio Lahore became quite popular and he toured the whole sub continent becoming the representative of Patiala gharana in Pakistan.

He was honoured with the 'Pride of Performance' award form the government of Pakistan. Ustad Amanat Ali died at an early age of 52 years at Lahore in September 1974. His elder son Ustad Asad Amanat Ali Khan inherited his father-like beautiful voice and talent. After a very successful music career, and contributing unforgettable treasure to ghazal singing, he died of heart attack on 8 April 2007 in London at a very early age. Since most of the newer singers like Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Rustam Fateh Ali, have changed away from classical Patiala Style singing, this leaves Amanat's youngest brother Hamid Ali Khan, as the last of the Patiala Legends
