16 Yr Twin Sisters Charged In Brutal Murder Of Their Mom

CONYERS, Ga. -- Twin sisters are charged with killing their mother. Police arrested the 16-year-old girls Friday.

Tasmiyah and Jasmiyah Whitehead are charged as adults.

Conyers Police Chief Gene Wilson said, That would make the District Attorney feel comfortable charging them as adults. I think that speaks about how vile this act was and how vicious this attack was."

Police said the teens stabbed and beat their 34-year-old mother, Jarmecca Whitehead, to death. She was found in her Conyers home on Jan. 13. Initially, police said the daughters told them they came home and found their mothers body.

Before she died, Jarmecca, who was known as Nikki, confided in her neighbor.

Angela Avery said, "The mother was kind of afraid that something like that might happen."

Avery did not know why. She said, "I can't explain why because the mother didn't do a lot of talking, but she did have that particular fear. Yes, she did."

Police arrested one of the girls at Tucker High School and the other at a relatives home.

Wilson said, "They did not appear to be surprised and they did not offer any apologies."

Police said conflicting statements and evidence pointed to the sisters.

Avery said the girls had recently moved back with their mother and boyfriend. She said they were back on a Saturday and on Wednesday, their mother was dead.

Avery said she spoke to Whiteheads boyfriend since the arrest. She said, Hes at peace.

Several neighbors said the family was known to have what they called issues. No one would elaborate beyond saying it was family trouble.

While many people said they were not shocked that the twins were accused of the slaying, they could not understand why.

Latina Williams said, "It's hard to fathom someone's child would do that it really is."

We don't know the whole story just from this. The mom could have been abusing them mentally, physically, verbally, you don't know.
