Eurice Cummings - Memphis beat-box outside Mississippi blues club (2011)

Eurice Cummings is the son of bluesman Blind Mississippi Morris, a harmonica player. Both men, father and son, are top-notch Deep South musicians.

In this video, Eurice blesses the camera with some amazing, up-close-and-personal beat-boxing. This clip was recorded on the second-floor porch of Rooster's Blues House in Oxford, Mississippi while Blind Mississippi Morris was on break.

I've been beatboxin' since about 1988, and I've seen many vocal percussionists, with a much deeper and more developed "bag of tricks", including myself. However, I can't help noticing his ability to lay down a groove and maintain a steady tempo. Many beatboxers can go lightning fast or fill the space with a ridiculous plethora of different sounds, but few can remain impressive while still keeping it simple. I particularly like his snare sound in the first half, clean, precise, and consistent.
