Ever since the days of Coxsone Dodd and Duke Reid, great soundmen have nurtured reggae music by producing new sounds for use on their booming systems. Along the way they created some of the most influential music the world has ever heard. The grand tradition continued with King Tubby's, a gentle genius whose sound defined dubwise reggae during the 1970s. Tubby's heir apparent was a similarly gifted youth named Lloyd James, known initially as Prince Jammy and eventually crowned King.
