Communism in Russia was successful in its core purpose: to develop an illiterate peasant society into an educated, industrialized one with a basic standard of living for the greatest number. It made unquestionable "sense" for a country with Russia's state of development ca. 1917. Sure it was repressive - it was Russia, not Canada. That in itself has 0 to do with the idea of the model. Marx even rejected socialism for Russia precisely for that reason.

Never will be. Humans function on greed at the most basic level. Greed to survive, greed to eat, greed to procreate. That base motivation will show up in any large societal construct be it capitalism, communism, democracy, etc...

If you think there will ever be an ongoing condition of fairness for any significant period of time you are deluded.

Best system is "Every man for himself". The strong survive, People are forced to work together or die.
