Hmm i always prefrred Rin and Shirou out of the three routes, for UBW, Archer and Shirou = Rin complicated feeling x epic dramatic win visual novel = profit.

@Kaizen767 What I meant was that Rin displayed no particular emotions towards Shirou in the Fate storyline, since she was kept on edge by the presence of Saber. In Fate there was a wall created by Saber's constant presence and Shirou's overprotectiveness of her. In UBW, Shirou didn't see Saber nearly dying for him in battle, hence what caused his protective inhibition towards her (borderline sexist at times), and since that wasn't present, Rin was more able to express herself.

@vc180191 Rin was at least interested in Shirou before the game even starts, although it was probably mild. She'd seen him years before, attempting a high jump for hours on end until the sun went down. He was never able to do it, but kept trying anyway. Both Rin and Sakura were apparently watching him the entire him. Rin was fascinated by his way of life and recognized him later. Rin mentions it in Heaven's Feel - "I knew about you, but you didn't know about me. You're one of my traumas."

@PhlegmaticMarj Oh, are you aware there are three storylines in Fate/Stay Night? Each storyline has a different main girl that falls in love with Shirou, the anime (Fate storyline) is all about Saber, Rin doesn't have any real feelings for Shirou. However, in the movie (Unlimited Blade Works storyline), it's completely about Rin and Shirou, Saber doesn't develop any feelings for Shirou. In the final storyline (Heavens Feel storyline), it's all about Sakura.

@frankystein12 oh that was part of the series too it was part of the ritual of giving magical cells to Saber. Though if Rin knew he was Archer i don't think she would have backed down so easily.
