I think this show actually had blood in it. Cause years later I walked in on an episode of Opera where she was using it as an example of too much violence in cartoons.

@Zoloft77 That and I think he (like most smart storytellers) came to the realisation that sometimes adults watch these shows with their kids and they want a show that has some substance to it if their kids are going to be watching it.

@Nabelnoir Not to mention The Real Ghostbusters before it got too corny with the Slimer part of it later on. The stories during those first few seasons never seemed too pandering to children like JMS already knew what children not just want but need w/o talking down to them like they were two years old.

@Zoloft77 Yes he did. So did his writing buddy Larry DiTillio who had his hand in writing tons o' 80 animation scripts for shows like Galaxy High School, HeMan, Jayce &WW, Centurions and Babylon 5. JMS also wrote for HeMan, SheRa, and Captain Power. JMS also wrote the script for the coveted Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors movie that never materialized due to poor sales of the toyline and lack of confidence on the producer's and sponsor's parts in the funding process.

@aculturemind LOL....Good observations. Though I will always love Robotech, I still cringe at some of the dialogue and animation. The 80's were such a wonderland of animated series that it blows my mind sometimes how much I actually remember and retain. I didn't get too caught up in how good or bad the animation was if the stories and characters were good and cool. JMS and DiTillo did some great stories back in the day for loads of cartoons. The Bench League thing was indeed from baseball.
