@raxar74 The people who say it is a scam don't understand how insurance works, and think that the people who are paying in and not receiving care are being "scammed."
Basically, they're incredibly stupid and it's not worth your time to argue with them.

It's a tremendous burden to require everyone to be insured. That's unneeded entitlement where drug companies make even more money at our taxpayer expense giving a hobo drugs. That's like giving ex-prisoners social security for life. Look people choose not to care about themselves that's a freedom. If they choose not to be insured the shouldn't be insured. If they visit the doctor all the time they should pay a lot for it.

My uncle joined a medicare advantage plan 10 days before he had his knee replaced and only paid $50, before he joined the plan, the hospital wanted over $1000 up front to cover the copay under medicare. Also had Gall Bladder out and paid $50. So where is the scam???

LOL...Medicare part C is a scam? My uncle joined 10 days before his knee replacement surgery and only paid $50 out of pocket. Had his gall bladder out...$50. Pays $10 at the doctor. Where is the scam? The hospital wanted over $1000 up front when his surgery was scheduled to cover the medicare copay. So where is the scam?

In Europe we don't need private insurance to see a doctor. We can go to public hospitals for free. After watching 'Sicko' I was disgusted with what I saw. What kind of country is the one that if you are dying or need surgery to save your life unless you have private health insurance they leave you on the street? And if you use your credit card you spend all your life repaying thousands of dollar? what is wrong with you? so great you think you are as a nation?pathetic!!

Why can't we just ditch HMOs and divert a sum of that wasted money to the government to pay for Universal Health Care?
The amount a person pays would vary depending on income, financial dependents, age, and health.
