I agree totally....just take a listen to any early 70's compilation CD and look at the songs that hit the Top 40 like " Billy Don't Be A Hero", " The Night Chicago Died"and "Convoy"....like I said there's no way that'd be played today....I look at all the K-Tel LPs I had and see how innocent they were...heck, we thought it was downright naughty when KC and The Sunshine Band sang " Shake Your Booty"!!! We'd have keeled over knowing what gets airplay today!

That's because there isn't enough talk in their lyrics about rape, murder, or violence.
I miss songs like this and the others Sweet (and other rock bands) put out. A lot of kids today wish that they were born during our time as they hate the music that is out today. I can't say I blame them.

@clockworklou you are right. The were signed with Bell Records in the USA until 1974 when they left to go to Capitol who treated them a lot better.

@fatpizzaman Yeah, I guess you're right.

@999manman what about Justin Bieber's "Baby" and Rebecca Black's "Friday"? They are the bubblegum music of today.

The only thing I don't get about this video is how on Earth the people in the background can resist running up and glomping them all. Especially Brian! His hair looks gorgeous here! :'D

You could film the missing end bit of the video, now that would be cool.

Jeez, Bell records treated this band like SHITE!!

I think they were with RCA when this came out, as with all the hits until 1977, at least in the UK anyway. Bell??

Bell records wa responsible for the 1st 3 Lp's in the US, until they were signed in America to Capital Records. Bell handled kitchy acts such as Partridge Family & Tony Orlando & Dawn. They were a band who deserved a better contract in the States, they would have been much more popular. When Bell folded in 1973 This band HAD no contract in the US for 2 years, until Desolation Blvd came out in 1975. I just think they were treated very poorly in the US.

You're right Bunnyhead, this is definitely more Partridge Family than Deep Purple! I certainly favour the heavier stuff, but the 'pop' Sweet has a certain kitch charm maybe?
