Renowned East Tennessee farrier Tim Hutton narrates this short documentary about the world's only coon dog cemetery. In 1937, "Troop" was the first canine to be buried in what is now known as the "Key Underwood Coon Dog Memorial Graveyard." Located in Colbert County, Alabama, more than 185 coon dogs from all across the United States are buried in this spot. To qualify for burial in this unique cemetery, dogs must meet three requirements:
1) The owner must claim their pet is an authentic coon dog.
2) A witness must declare the deceased is a coon dog.
3) A member of the local coonhunters' organization must be allowed to view the coonhound and declare it as such.

  • Thank you for sharing this it was a pleasure to watch. Presented nicely.

  • My favorite dog died Feb 14, 2010 (Valentines day, her name was Heart) She was a bluetick grade dog-no papers. The truest hound and companion. I had her cremated. I didnt want to bury her. I dont want to let her go. I know Ill see her again in coon hunters heaven where there are no slick trees or dens and your light never goes out. I want to thank Robbie Mahoney for the time I spent with her, you are a true friend...Eric Armour
