well my neibors chow chow is very friendly as well but dead he used to look up to me

i think it's also irresponsible if the parents don't teach their kids the correct way to interact with dogs. the kids should not irritate the dogs with the way they handle the dogs, e.g. sticking fingers on the dog's nose, or invading the dog's personal space... etc.

I don't know about them being harmless. I had one for 14 years. I sure miss him, but no animal can be 100% predictable.

id also like to point out that having had a chow for 11 years (before she died on chrismtas eve 2007) that they r harmless, but even so, its still VERY irressoponsible to let a dog near a baby's face, chows r lovely dogs and im sure sugar is no exception to that rule, but even so, be aware of the dangers that are involved

chows get such a bad rap. they can be gentle, playful and calm as every other dog.

I agree. Even on the show "Pushing Daisies" they framed a chow, saying that it attacked its owner (it was the secretary's rottweiler though). Chows are cool! I take sugar to school with me sometimes and everyone loves her!
