This is a video of a barge pulling a half submerged boat out of the water after it crashed. I witnessed it crashing when the driver tried taking a turn going way too fast (about 60mph). We think he must have slowed down halfway through the turn causing the front end to go down and the engines to come out of the water. When the front caught the water the back swung around and then it hit the water. The two passengers and the driver were thrown out of the boat for thirty feet before hitting the water. The boat then cart wheeled or barrel rolled (I'm not sure of the difference) several times. It ended up top down, but the engines drug the bottom down first leaving the front pointing up. It slowly sank until the back hit the ground. The boat started to tip but the crane pulled it out before it was completely submerged. Right when we saw this happen my mom called 911 and we quickly got over to the accident sight and pulled the people out of the water. They were not hurt bad but they were all shaken up badly. Note: This was on East Lake Okoboji.

  • this is my families boat before we sold it this spring. 32 foot advantage. name son god. with twin 496 HO motors. i received a call from the auctioneer the morning after. he sent me the emails of the crash. to be honest it made me sick. the boat is and was beautiful. i still dont know how they flipped it, because we can do 55 mph power turns and it hardly shakes. its as simple as operator error

  • @jrbigbull

We think that in the middle of the turn he slowed down which caused the front end to lower and catch the water which swung the back end around.

  • @ssch41

It crashed on the 5th of July which was a Monday.

  • @vetwannabe8ball it was also parked at the Ritz (lake bar) and it rained. hull was filled with water. i only know this because i work at Mau Marine and also saw it happen.

  • Notice the lack of DNR they are to busy pulling me over as a sailor in the middle of a race

  • I remember seing this live footage on CNN. Wolf Blitzer was having a field day.

  • well obviously the numskull who crashed it had little experience with that much power. it had twin 496 H/O's in it. considering you most likely didnt have the trim up. the props lost grip on a tight turn, and the weight of the boat itself would cause it to barrel roll. simple as an inexperienced boater, thinking they could handle that much power

  • @jrbigbull ummm I'm pretty damn sure we were going a hell of a lot faster than 55 there buddy..

  • Wonder if the guy driving it had to buy it. He said it was a bank repo and they were letting him take it out that day.
